Power Windows and Door Locks

Power Windows and Door Locks
I have a 1993 Mustang LX 5.0 and there is a problem with my power windows and door locks. I went to put down my window to go through a toll and it wouldnt go down. It didnt seem like something was binding or that anything was happening. So then just for fun i tried to use the power door locks but they didnt work either. My girlfriend in the passanger seat tried to put down her window and use her door lock control and nothing happened. Then i tried it again and it worked. This keep going on intermitantly. Also, i have the factory remote entry and when i go to lock it it doesnt lock the doors but it activated the alarm. I am not sure if the driver side is the master control and this is why the passenger side wasnt working or what. I am yet to remove the door panels because it just became a pain tonight. Just some suggestions on what i may be getting myself into. Thanks Guys

RE: Power Windows and Door Locks
I am having similar problems. Neither of my power lock work, and my pass window must be rolled down on the driver side. Haven't taken the time to find the problem yet though.

If you lose power to everything after you hit your power window switch and then every thing goes back to normal its probably your window motor it has a short or your connections are dirty. unplug you window motorthen press your window switch and if it doesnt cut the power out on everything else. its your window motor.

the connections for the windows and the locks are a 5 wires system. The advantage to this system is that they do not need to use relays as the switches act as relays. The disadvantage to this system is that if you have a bad connection at the switch, hrns, or anywhere in the system then nothing will work. You said it sounded like it was binding though, I am not sure about that. I would start with some contact cleaner on your switches(both sides) and see if it helps.....

RE: Power Windows and Door Locks
i am having a similar problem with my power door locks as well as my passenger window. I have tried several sets of buttons for both sides. and still the passenger side window will not go up. i used a test light and even took the motor out and testedit without pushing the glass up and the same thing happens.
the testlight indicates that there is power on both wires going to the motorand the motor will continuously go down when not in the car but going up is the problem

Sounds like the power supply going to the driver side door is grounding on something. The best way to fix it is remove the door panel and test it with testlight to track down were the power stops.
