Default New Motor New Time Slip? What ya Think!

Hey peeps haven't been on in a while. I just rebuilt my 302. I got a 302 long block from truck and it was standard bore, so i got bored .30 over, got truck rods, forged speed pro pistons, high performace rings, trick flow stage 1 cam, new fordmotorsport lifters, stock rockers and lifters, stock intake, stock heads. It is pretty much all stock just made the bottom end stronger and all the internal parts are new excepr push rods, rockers, heads, and crank. Well it is a little stock 306 in an automatic 89 5.0. Last time i ran with stock 302 i ran a best of 14.83 @ 93.6. That was with bbk shorties, bbk H-pipe, and flowmaster catbacks, and 373's with no pill in distributor with total timing at 35. This time we ran the stock 306 with the pill in and the timing set for stock 10 degress and ran a best of 14.31@ 96.3. Then to come to find out my brother forgot to put the motor mount nuts tight and had a quart to much oil, so i know i lost some torq. But with the fresh motor and new cam we knocked off about half a second, and picked up 3 MPH. Thinking of putting holley systematic intake and afr or victor jr. heads and a Art Carr 2500 or 3000 stall converter with a little power shot. What yall think i could get with heads, converter, intake, and power shot?

another thing i found a little weird is the pistons stuck out the whole 7 thousands but we checked around and did clearance check with molding clay. It didn't hit the heads or valves. Plus we had a 4 thousands gaskett and we called my friend who did the machine work he said he seen some mustangs with the pistons out 5 thousands from factory, said they trying to make more power and compression. but know the less it worked and i was a little scared lol!

the sky's the limit on mods, so it depends on what heads and how big a shot you give it! LOL
based on my '88 stock motor with built AOD and 4.56 gears and suspension mods with slicks running 13.60's, I'd say you could use some weight loss and suspension work to plant the tires and get the power to the ground better, but you're heading in the right direction, just need more work is all.

took off emissions, sway bar, and took tire out it weighs 3360 with me in it. Going with the victor jr heads they will be ported, holley systematic intake will be ported both upper and lower, and a 125-175 shot. looking for good 11's and adding a art carr 2500-3000 stall converter. if i could get my 60ft down i would have good times. I ran a 2.1 60ft
