1.7 or 1.6 roller rockers?
ok i have a 306 motor with edelbrock performer heads, forged pistons, and cobra intake manifold, but the problem is i do not know which roller rockers to use. i want to use the 1.7's of course, but i am not sure if they will fit (or so says the nearby ford performance shop). any ideasfrom yall?

With those heads I'd go ahead and put the 1.7's on. That will give you a little more lift without going over board on the duration. Make sure the springs on your heads will take the lift though. I calculated your lift to be .529 at the valve, with the 1.7s. I'd also check and see if your pistons already came with valve reliefs cut in them.

I have twisted wedge heads with trick flow's stage 1 cam and 1.7 aluminum roller rockers. I believe this combo produces a lift of .520". As long as your valve springs can take lift, then you are OK. The bigger problem is interference with the nuts on top of the rocker pedestals.I had to grind away the mounts for the oil filler baffle in my cast aluminum vaklve covers. At first, I used the Ford motorsports valve covers. I had to grind the baffle and some bosses out of the top of the valve cover. These valve covers cracked when I torqued them to spec, but I am sure it was not due to the grinding. I then put back on my stock cast aluminum valve covers and had to grind away the baffle and one side of a support next to the inner, center bolt hole. These work great. I found that the stock cast aluminum valve covers are so much thicker and stiffer than the cool looking ford motorsports covers.
