RE: instument cluster
I have, I know the only direct replacement speedo cluster for the 87 and 88's were from the later 89 models. I don't think the 90-93's will work with out modifications, you should sell the 90 cluster and find an 89 cluster to make your life much easier. jmo

RE: instument cluster
I'm in the process of installing a 1991 cluster in my 1988, it isn't easy thats for sure. I will do a write-up on it when it is done but basically this is what it involves:
1. acquire wiring schematics for your cars original cluster and the year of the replacement cluster
2. plot out where all the wires go/do
3. establish which color wires on your cars harnesscorrespond to what pins on the replacement cluster
4. take very careful notes(pictures are even better) before you pop apart the grey/brown plugs
5. a very small reg screwdriver is great for reaching inside the connectors, depressing the tab, and sliding the wires out.
6. on my car, I have to extend wires from the grey plug to the brown one, and vice versa
thats as far as I've got because I am having trouble locating an exact schematic of my 1988, there are wires in there whose colors do not appear on my 1988 mitchels schematic(purple and pink for example), or my chiltons, or the printout out got from the local ford dealer so I am having to trace each wire one by one to figure out wtf it does.
Sound like fun yet?

RE: instument cluster
not to mention that the overall shape of the cluster is different, to allow for the airbag steering column.
you'll need to cut and file and shave and sand away at it, just to make it fit.
