Mustang Mechanic NEEDED....
Hey everyone....I'm in need of a mustang mechanic....
Got my 5.0 rebuilt and a friend and I put it back in last summer....it seems to be backfiring out of intake....I believe it has to do w/ the timing but neither of us can set it or figure out the problem....
Willing to pay someone up to $200 who has a timing light that can get this thing running smooth and the way it should be...
It will have to be on terms though...only if you can get it running smooth....last thing i need is to pay someone who is just guessing....like me...
IM LOCATED IN BRENTWOOD, NY....SUFFOLK COUNTY...L.I.
If interested....email me @: MGokool@aol.com
Thanks,
Mike

If I lived closer than 1500 miles I would help you for nothing, sounds like your distributor was not stabbed right. I believe you can pick up a serviceable timing light for around 30 bucks. Won't cost you anything to read up on stabbing it right. The satisfaction of correcting the problem and hearing the Stang roar happily to life ought to be worth around 170 or so... Seriously this is not a hard thing to do, read this:

then read this: https://mustangforums.com/m_1531258/...tm.htm#1531258
Now you should have no trouble assuming timing is your problem, if this doesn't help, then you have eliminated one possibility. Hope it helps!

I am sure andyone on here would help you for free, but read those links above, you should be able to do it yourself. You did put the HO firing order in it right and not the non HO?

RE: Mustang Mechanic NEEDED....
Well guys, I tried everything today...engine seems to rev higher now w/ less backfiring....still doing it a little though....I GIVE UP.....
It seems when you have it in a gear and giving it gas as you're letting off the clutch, it backfires more and even stalls out....
