Biggest bang for the buck

Biggest bang for the buck
I want to get some performance parts for my Crown Vic. The idea is to try to get more power with no or little increase in fuel usage, thus getting better gas mileage. There are many options out there, and of course a lot of parts are expensive. Being a beginner knowing this sort of stuff about cars, I'm not sure what would get the biggest bang for the buck. If you guys could help me out that would be great.

Shorty mustang headers and the h-pipe will fit a crown vic. Gears, traction lok rear end. Then if you want more convert it to HO since crown vic's come with E6 heads, a smaller throttle body, a tiny cam, and run on a different firing order than the windsor motors.
Here's my beater from back in the day...
IIRC I had mac unequal length shorty's and just a stock foxbody h-pipe.

RE: Biggest bang for the buck
What year is your car? 4.6 or 5.0? I am guessing 5.0 since its in this section.
A good exhaust system would help free up some power as well as efficiency.
Check out summitracing.com where you can search for parts by make and model.
Gears will improve acceleration but as mentioned your rpm,s on the highway will increase. Slight decreaes in mpg can be expected. Improving the inhale and exhale will be the best/easy way to find power since just about every car breathes through a straw from the factory.
