Lightbulb Wheel Question! (New member, hi folks)

Hello all,

I've been a lurker on here for awhile, learning some great things. I have an interesting (you might call it stupid) question concerning doing something a little different with my wheels.

I love original Cragars ("Oh, here we go" you might say). Origina 08/61's are just perfect in my eyes, with the deep well and small size backed by thick sidewall.

I've been researching, trying to figure out how (if at all possible) a pair of these magnificent wheels could fit an S197 ('06 GT).

I reached out to Cragar, and they say the biggest problem will be clearance of the GT's brakes / calipers. I see most wheels don't go smaller than 17". I've heard of very select pairs that fit, at 15". I know the 08/61's come in 15".

I also read on other drag forums that back-spacing can't exceed 5.5", which Cragars top out below 5". I believe S197 hubs are 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern, which 08/61's also come in.

So... Has anyone ever ran 14's or 15's on their Mustang? What worked for you? Any input or knowledge on if these will fit?

The Cragar's I'm looking at are linked here: http://www.jegs.com/i/Cragar/260/617...oductId=755662

Any input is appreciated. Flaming, "you're an idiot", etc., is also appreciated for entertainment.

Welcome, I think Summit Racing has these same wheels in 17 -19 inch. It would be different for sure.

Thanks for the responses. I filtered my search on Summit, and they only come in 15". I'm going to follow the advice of one of Cragar's reps and just buy one, see if it fits send it back if it doesn't! I've seen plenty of wheels @ 15" that fit an S197, so why not try?

I know I won't have a problem with the rear tires - they come in 10" with enough backspace to clear the sway bar. My only concern will be the front rotors / calipers.

I just bought one off Ebay for 119. Came with a cheap-looking thermostat so I picked up a Ford thermostat and gasket Saturday. Will try to install today or tomorrow(Monday). Will let you know how it goes.
