An TDC won't necessarily be right, you have to get the lifter when it is down. Roll the motor till the rocker arm you are looking at goes up then down, then when the one right next to it start going up is when you start setting lash and preload...get it??

News flash folks if your lifters a bled down, you will need to back off a 1/4 turn to leave room for the lifter to load...yes? on a hydraulic lifter that is

I figured since he said his rocker arm fell off his lifter would have come up and he would be good to go. If you push the spring into the lifter before you set preload, then you will have to back it off.

Its all the same, just weather you use shims or not. Pedestals are more of a pain to get right.

doesnt sound like it to me, all i had to do was measure my pushrod, install everything and torque the rockers down to spec when the cam was on base circle and that was it.

actually no, cause the spring in the lifter will keep the top of the lifter cup at the top of the lifter, so once the pushrod touches it and you dont have any slack you just go 1/4 to 1/2 and lock 'er down.

and for the record, studs are 1,000 times better than pedestal mount for multiple reasons [8D]
