Fuel pump location
hey guys i have an 82 GT and the fuel pump finally went.(only had about 21/2 psi. well good and bad. bad because more money gone but good because it's finally time to go electric. only problem is there isn't really a decent location to put it. it says too keep it low and close to the pump. i was thinking about making a braket to bolt on the the tank itself and attach it to that. Good idea or not. i don't know. ive never had to switch from mechanical to electric before.

RE: Fuel pump location
place the pump as close to the tank as possible it's easier to push fuel than pull it. I went with the holley blue pump and made brackets and mounted it behind the rear bumber and spare tire well.

RE: Fuel pump location
just completed rebuild on an 85gt. New FRPP 302 w/Al heads, edel perf mani and carb, tube coated headers.
Burnt out 2 elect. Mrgaskets mounted near the old mechanical on the chassis (low).
Fed up - nobody seemed to know anything about what to do, here in Massachusetts.
So I mounted a Holley 801 Red just in front of the R rear tire inside the rocker panel space there - nicely protected, and
accessible from the bottom. Then ran -8AN braided hose from the tank to the pump, bolting it to the body over the rear housing, along
and around the subframe on the R to the front R wheel housing and up to the strut housing - attached to a Holley regulator and sent a
braided (Russell) line back to the tank; Have a Holley liquid in line pressure gauge after the regulator to the Edelbrock carb.
2 fuel filters - a jegs inline coming out of the tank above the diff. and another after the regulator.
Fuel pressure is 6 lbs and stable. F---- car runs GREAT!!! Can't thank that nice Ford replacement engine at 150 k enough.
I just love this Ttop.
Pump is now low (9 inches above ground, and protected, same level as bottom of tank)
Good luck.
