89 brakes

89 brakes
I recently did the brakes on my mustang, but since it started out as a 4 cylinder i had to get the bigger rotors. I also had to get new spindels, calipers and wheel bearings. After I installed and packed the bearings with grease and installed the rotors, they wobble. i can grab them with my hands and get them to move about a quarter of an inch. I thought the nut was too loose so i tightened it to around 120 ft lbs. still doing the same thing.
Is there something I missed?

120 foot lbs?????????? seems a little tight to me. ALL I ever do is while tightening them is spin the wheel expecially after packing them and sinch the nut down then spin the while while backing it of a hair and reset the preload but to do all this the wheel has to be off the ground.....if your trying to torque the nut with the wheel on the ground you'll never get the slop out. after driving for a few miles I always go back and retighten the wheel bearings a tad more if any play has worked it's way out.

If I were you I'd pull the wheel bearings back out and inspect them and you need to read a manual!!! max torque spec on adjusting wheel bearings for that year is 17-25 ft lbs!!! then you back it off and set final setting to10-12 inch pounds not 120 maybe for the lug nuts[:@]but not wheel bearings!! by now you may have toasted the wheel bearings that's why you keep getting play in them!!

If you place your hands @ 9 and 3 and get play it probably is your inner tie rods that connect to rack and pinion. If you have play a 12 and 6 then it is yur bearings. Your can buy a reman. rack and pinion with inner tie rods attached for about $80.
