cam install

RE: cam install
It'll probably take anywhere from 6-10 hoursand after you install the cam depending on the lift that your cam produces without knowing what cam you want you may have to check piston to valve clearance if its a realitively low lift under .500 then you'll be okay you'll also want to set up valvetrain right by checking for the correct pushrod length (would reccommend roller rockers with install) but all this adds to cost but is extremely neccessary. it could cost anywhere from600 to 900dollars depending on a shops labor rate. when I install them for people I'm quite generous in fact sometimes to much. anyway hope that give you an idea

RE: cam install
expect about 800 bucks LABOR. it is a good idea to do....
valve job
resurface your heads
new springs, no matter what. floating a valve will get you a new motor.
new lifters.
new water pump, while your down there
timing chain is not a bad idea, i did not get a new one tho
it adds up quick. i did all the work my self without ever doing any of that stuff before and spent about 1200 bucks said and done from parts that needed to be replaced and so forth. it would have costed me the price of a vortec if i payed someone else to do it
