rotors and brakes

RE: rotors and brakes
take off the wheel
unbolt the caliper... from the back... 2 bolts... cant miss em
take the little dust cover off the center of the rotor... use channel locks, dnt be afraid to hurt it
then your lookin at the spindle and a big nut on it...
take the pin out, or bend down a tab...youll see what i mean
and use the channel locks to untwist the nut... it wont be that tight... after that rotor slides out
a spacer and the first bearing will come out w. it
the back bearing needs to be beat out... use a punch, and hit on the bearing around the edges, to knock it and the rear seal out
be sure to repack the bearings and then drop the big bearing in the back of the new rotor
put the seal back on and tap it in flush w. a hammer... slid this on...put the front bearing and spacer **** back on
everything inorder, etc etc
the nut... w. teh channel locks just twist it tight, and then loose, do this 3 or 4 times... then leave it snug, but not tight. lock it back into place w. the tab or pin(i forget what we have)
after this it should all be self explanitory...
i do this typa **** almost every day, any questions just ask

RE: rotors and brakes
-the tab/pin you are talking about is a castle nut (size 1-1/8 btw in case you dont wanna use channellocks) with a cotter key.
-the brake shield is held on by 3 10mm screws.
You can do this job in no more than 2 hours with very little experiance. You don't need any special tools, all you need is a socket set and a pair of needle nose pliers (for the cotter key).
Make sure that when you put the nut that holds the rotor on, don't overtighten it. get it snug with your fingers, then start spinning the rotor. Just after the rotor starts to drag is where you want it. I'm sure there's a torque value out there somewhere, but a doubt anyone ever uses it. Make sure that after you get it all put togather, try and wiggle it (grabbing the tire gives you more leverage on it).. make sure it doesn't feel loose.
