Default Are these springs too weak for my E303?

Part # CRN-44308-1
You can view them at Summit Racing. The spring rate is 455 lbs./in. I'm running stock heads, E303 & FMS 1.6 RR's. Are these springs too weak???

if 455 is open pressure it sounds a little on the heavy side.

actually maybe they'll be fine as they reccommend a spring with 438 open pressure personally I'd use the matching ford racing springs FMS-M-6513-A50 I used these with the f-cam and they worked great 6300 rpm all day long and no valve float

no they shouldn't I have a comp cam xe 282 hr in mine 565/574 and the reccommended springs were 986-16 and I open pressure was 360 -380 I believe ...anyway I had valve flutter occuring so I upgraded to a spring with 430 lbs open and now it runs great as long as you have all the accompanying hardware to go with it you should be fine. are you having a prob???

i would recommend going to a hardened push rod when going with stiffer springs. all aftermarket head companies recommend hardened push rods when installing their heads (which have stiffer springs then stock)

well I'm having a knocking/clicking noise coming from my valve train. When I had the engine rebuilt about 2 1/2 years ago the builder said that the shims under the rockers needed to be replaced with thinner one's. (Pedestal mount) He was soposed to change them out but never got around to it so he said he would pay to have it done. I had my mech swap them with the thinner one's & it helped a little but it still makes noise. I did notice better driveability though.

just get yourself a set of used aluminum heads so that you will have adjustable valve train
