I need some advise
A good friend of mine is being re-deployed to Iraq and he asked me to help him come up with an idea to build his Mustang while he is gone. I previously owned a '90 GT with a Paxton but that was 10 years ago so I'm sure things have changed since then. He has a '90 LX 5.0 notchback and the origional motor has 100k. The only thing done to the motor is a Trick Flow intake and a set of AFR heads with less than 200miles on them, dont know if they are 185 or 165. He wants to replace the entire motor with a fresh one and was thinking of having it rebuilt. I figure that with the cost of DSS stroker short blocks its a better idea to just buy one of them. How reliable are those engines? He is looking to dump 10-15K into this car in the next year or so, some of which needs to be done to the exterior. He also wants a nice bad a$$ street car and I fugure 450 to 500 rwhp should accomplish that pretty well. Is that possible with a 331 with AFR heads and some other nice upgrades? What cam would you guys run? I had a B303 in mine but I'm sure there are better out there. I'm trying to keep him from going FI because he has a HEAVY right foot and FI seems to be less reliable for a DD. Any help you guys can give would be appreciated. Thanks,
Zach

RE: I need some advise
You have to keep the efi, its more reliable. I wouldn't do DSS I have heard a lot of bad things about them, try CHP. I would go 331 AFR 185's and Vortech supercharger. Make sure you get a better block too.
