I've seen people build covers out of diamond plate before...looks good you could use sheet metal or thin flashing also.

most of the wiring can be moved into the inner fenders and routed accordingly. if you take your time and plan things out well, you can almost hide every wire there is, except the distributor.

My site has a wire hiding write-up that might help?

As stated by mattdel the wires will be rerouted to theinside the inner fender.
I only had to cut and lenghten 2 sets of wires when I did mine.
1 set of wires went to the over flow bottle, and 1 set of wires went to the A/C compressor.
Had I not weldedupmy engine bay I may not have had to cut and lenghten any wires?

Wow. That is one beautiful engine. The only thing about running wires through fenders would be if you got in a wreck and messed up a fender you would have to do alot of work to fix the wiring back.

Almost all ofmy wires are still running in there original plastic sheathing so it would be no different if they were in the engine bay or between the fender attached to the inner fender in an accident.
Unlessmy strut towers got crushed (which they'd total the car anyway) I'd just cut a few zip ties if my fenders got crushed.
