so i just got an 89 GT 5speed, all stock.... what are the first things normally done/suggested for better performance?

Suspension, and brakes if you plan to goa lot faster than it was intended to stock. But suspension is the best place to start

12-14* timing
tps set at .990
remove air silencer
make sure throttle blade opens 100% when pedal is down
4.10 gears or 3.73 if your scared to go fast
exhaust (long tubes + offroad + 2 1/2")
cheater slicks


all above will get you mid to low 13's

after that spray it, or do HCI or a blower or all
