Default timing and idle



i have an '88 GT 5.0 and i belive it is pretty much stock (not real sure i bought it from someone who didn't know much about mustangs) and i am trying to set the timing and when i advance the timing i do not know how to bring my idle back down. i have tried the screw under the throtle body and nothing happened. can someone please help.</P>

the best way to time is trial and error...trying to get it closest to ping without ping...ping pong <IMG src=smileys/smiley14.gif border="0">as for the idle, not sure on that one

Be sure the spout connector is pulled before setting timing. To properly set idle, you need to use the adjustment screw on the throttle body OR maybe bend the throttle stop tab a little if necessary. Once you get your idle correct, you need to re-adjust the tps voltage to .97v key on engine off.</P>
