Default Speedo Gear help!!

I own a 95 cobra with an 8.8 rear end. I replaced the original gear ratio with 3:73's. Now my speedo is off. I looked at the Ford racing chart and they do not show a speedo gear available for the T5 5 speed tranny. Can anyone point me in the right direction of finding a gear that will correct my speedo or am I **** out of luck? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You'll need to change the drive gear in the tranny also.

you have an 8t drive gear , thats why...the older t5's were 7t and you needed a 21t to be corrected. if you don't wanna tear the tailshaft off to put a 6t on there you just have to deal w/ it

even a non ford 23t will have you at about 10% error, but your probably about 20-25% error right now

the 23t might not last long though...thats the problem

remove the driveshaft, then you unbolt the mount with a jack under the tranny, remove the shifter and pop out the drift pin. unbolt the rear housing, slide it off, pop the clip on the drive gear and slide it off, replace drive gear, and re-assemble

you dont have to pull the tranny to swap the gear

yeah i guess, but it seems like it would actually be easier w/ it out.

i only pulled 1 t5 apart ever.... decided it wasn't something i really wanted to do

getting that pin in seems like a b!tch , the steel ball(s) falling all over and stuff...not for me, i'll wreck stuff cuz i get too pi$$ed

anyways, note to those replacing trannys ..... get a 6t drive gear

the steel ball is actually very easy to deal with. and the pin... once you bang it out... it just falls into the shifter valley in the tail case. Once the steel block is removed.. its sitting right there.. staring at you
