Default drum brakes

i'm going to do my rear brakes soon and i don't know what i'm in for. ive done countless disc brakes but never drums. what parts do i need? shoes, "hardware kit" (not sure what that consists of), get the inner drums remachined. anything else? special tools?

go to your local parts store and get a service kit for rear drums..sears will have both tools to remove springs on rear shoes..hardware kit consists of springs and possibly adjuster and all retaining hardware

I am about to do my replace mine too, not much to it, yes they take the shoes. just remember how you took it off and put it on the same way

Golden rule of drum brakes, only take apart one side at a time so you can look at the other side to make sure you route/connect everything correctly.

check your wheel cylinders for leaking and/or cracked boots, if they are close to bad, just replace em.
