I want to put a higher ratio 5th gear in my T5 and i dont want to pay Astro gear $265 for theirs. So i was thinking i could use a 5th gear from a different model T5. I think supercoupes had a .80 overdrive... I just want to buy a stock 5th gear for a different model T5 but does anyone know how strong the gear would be? Maybe someone has done something similar and can help me out?

No road racing, I just want 5th gear to pull harder. This car is not my daily driver and i have no plans on going 160+ (i pegged my speedo and that was f cuking scarey enough) so i just want a higher 5th gear. I've got my trans open right now and it would be the best time to do it.

SVO's have a good 5th for you, 84 has .86, 85 and up has .78

you mean to want a lower 5th gear.........put a 4cyl tranny in then..it'll achieve the desired effect..I didn't like it so I swapped mine to a 5.0

Well a higher NUMERICAL gear is what i meantbut i think i will just buy a 5th gearset for a 4cyl then, i was just wondering about the strength of the gear.

you'll be fine as 5th won't take the torque abuse the lower gears will

shouldn't be a problem. but were not sure if he's gonna slap a bigger shot on that beast now...
