Default Thermo Housing Leaking??

My buddy replaced his Thermo.....and it is leaking a lot!

I am going ot go over there after work to check it out, but I was wondering if you guys have any ideas??

I know the torque specs are 15-20lbs.......so I think he over-torqued it. I asked him if there is any corrosion on it and he said no.......what else could it be?

I am going to cut a new gasket with some gasket material I have, and then goop it up with some gasket sealant. Then I am going to torque it properly to the right specs..........am I missing anything??

I just don't understand what he could of done...it is not that hard to change a thermo?!?

Just re-do it. Should be an easy fix unless he cracked the housing[:@]
