Default t-5 Strength

Okay i know that t-5s are certainly no where near the top of strong transmissions

but what exactly breaks in them that ppl blow em up constantly?

all i have is what is in my sig + some M/Ts and i i know that the tranny is the weakest link in my drivetrain atm... so i wanna kno like how hard can i push it?

People blow them up when they launch them on slicks or powershift. You can do this with a stock 5.0. It's like the 302 blocks...you can get away with big power for a little while but it usually catches up with you. A big factor with t-5's or any manual trans is driving style. You can make them last a long time with 400+hp if you drive it correctly. Or you can blow them up with one bad shift/launch. Your setup should be fine with stock WC t5.

people launch to hard and powershifting tears sincros out in short order.. heck mine still works okay and I have run low 11 's on a 300 ft lb t-5

with your mods i wouldn't worry about your T-5. Other then synchros going out I doubt it would break, I don't think you can really bolt on anything that would give you enough power to hurt your tranny, I mean like easy peezy bolt ons (intake, exhaust) Unless you did like a H/C/I swap and made a considerable increase of power i wouldn't worry about it. although i have heard of people breaking T-5's with a stock motor.......maybe they just couldn't shift right or had a leak, ahhh who knows but dont worry about it unless you plan on putting some big power into you stang

+1 on the cluster gear , thats what i broke

but typically the input shaft, output shaft or cluster gear will str8 break
whereas the synchros wear out

as long as the tires break loose the transshouldn't break. and if the tires stick good...keep your launches under 3500
