Default 5.0L swap

Ok, here it goes. I just bought a 5.0L HO,that is MAF, with a AOD tranny, complete wiring harness, and computer for $500that I'm going to swap intomy cj-7. I want to run the 'B' cam however, I've heard that the stock motor needs to be modified to be able to run the cam. My thoughs were to find a explorer with GT-40 heads or GT-40P heads and put them on to the motor, I just dont know which heads are the best for my application. I was planning on using the intake from the explorer because its the same as the cobras is this correct. I was planning on running #24 injecters with a MAF senser that is calibrated to the injecters. I also was going to run a 65mm TB, with afuel pressure regulator. I was hopeing that someone could help me out as to if this set will work. If this set up wont work, if you could please let me know what would. I know this is going to get expensive I just want if to be done right. Also I'm not going to be running the smog equipment, if this matters any. Also will I have to have the computer tweeked to make the motor run right.
Thanks

Default RE: 5.0L swap

yeah it'll all work

if you can find a cobra intake it's better in the fact that the egr spacer is part of the intake.

otherwise, the explorer and cobra are both cast gt40 intakes , you would benefit a bit from porting the lower...at leat matching the mating surfaces. i prefer the cobra heads too, real gt40's they have 3 harsh marks as opposed to 4, and don't require special headers. again..port work will make a huge diff, concentrate on the exhaust ports, clean up the intakes, and comp valve job. slight decking is ok too.

i am assuming you are NOT using the aod tranny ? b cams don't like aod's you'll have problems at idle the x cam is prefereed for aod cars/trucks (or is it e????) not sure, look into it

other than that your good to go. try to port the heads at minimum...the exhaust at least + valve job , it'll double the gain of the heads

Thanks for the reply. I will port the heads, at least the exhaust and valves. AlsoI was planning on runningthe AOD tranny but you say the 'X' or the 'E' cams are better for the AOD, I'll look into that. Also when I replace the TB can I order one for a mustang or does it haveto be fora explorer.
Thanks.
