I think 7 grand sounds pretty decent for that car. I haven't checked in several months but when I got mine the going price on autotrader for cars with similar mileage was 10-15 grand (mine had 22,000 when I bought it in Aug '07). I would probably check out the basic stuff that other people have mentioned, but suspension-wise mine still handles like a champ despite sitting on the original 14 year old shocks/struts. It sounds like yours should be in great shape mechanically if you are talking about a middle-aged original owner who basically used it as a summer/weekend cruiser.

As far as Adder, he may come off as an *** sometimes but he knows his stuff. I wouldn't just ignore him but rather learn to tolerate him [8D]

i apologize for ADDERmk2... you will learn real fast to ignore him on this forum... likes to run his mouth with non relavent info a lot to keep his post count up...
dont apologize for me, because im not sorry for my comment.

also, I could give a rats *** about my post count. Its completely irrelevant in my eyes.

as far as buying a 94-95 cobra for 7k.... it better have some LOW *** miles, and you better be on some god damn good crack. I paid $4700 for mine 2 years ago and it was in perfect condition... bone stock.

definitly definitly talk the guy down. Find out why he wants to sell it. Ask questions!

He may NEED to sell it, in which case.. low ball him. Offer 5k right off the bat. Tell him its all you can get together for a few weeks and see what he gives you for a responce.

How many miles did yours have? I'm just curious because I haven't been keeping up on what 94-95 Cobras are going for. I paid $8000 for mine and I think I got a pretty good deal. Mine was showroom stock, perfect condition, all documentation, 22,000 miles and total knowledege of the history of the vehicle (I've known the previous owner for a long time ). I know location has some factor but you are in the northeast also so it can't be that much of a difference.

mine had just over 140k when i bought it. The body is perfect, so I didnt really give a damn about the miles. It got a new motor anyway!

+1 adder....I'm thinking about going right to a 347 stroker if I end up getting it. I Know that the body/interior is mint. its stuff like suspension/brakes etc etc that i'm worried about.

Just do the mods in the right order. Many people are quick to just throw power into the car with no regard for anything else. Start with the important stuff. Get a nice solid suspension under the car. Then go from there. Before you put ANY money into the car, get a plan. I had about 6 different plans for my car and i ended up falling back onto just one. I wanted a 400hp Street car!

So I began buying my parts accordingly. As a matter of fact, i had the tubular K-member for my car... before i even had the car itself!

A 347 is a very good route, although, plan on putting about 3k into your trans and rear. If you wanna get up around 400+ hp, plan on going to a 31 spline axle... which means DON'T do gears right off the bat. I have my 347 in and im still rocking the stock trans and rear... because I didnt do things in the proper order.

Just take your time, plan everything out, and work slowly towards your plan.
