wierd voltage problem

Default wierd voltage problem

Ok....When the car is sitting in Parkwhile running the voltage is a perfect 14.4 butif put it in driveor pull up to a stop light and sit still while holding the brake and in Drive the voltage drops to like 11.5-12.0 and kind of wanders, Also if iturn the defrost on the voltage goes back up a little higher but still kind of wanders just not as low......If anyone can help It would be greatly appreciated!!!

weird, the defroster should lower the voltage. does your car idle at different rpms when in park or drive/brake?

yes it idles at about 600 rpms in D/brake, and about 750 in park

the alternator charges differently at each rpm. the higher the rpm the higher the alternator is charging

Mine does that too, but Im running a sound system with our crappy stock alternators, so Im not too surprised.

its deffinitly the low rpms, but i saw you did the 3g upgrade, did you upgrade the big 3 at the same time?

I just upgraded the alt and only upgrades the 4 gauge wire to the solenoid at first. Then i upgraded theother two of the big three ( battery to engine and engine to frame or firewall). After i upgraded the other grounds it made a difference. YOu want to make sure to upgrade all grounds.
