Default AC and smog pump delete clarification

I'm reading different things in posts, I'm going to delete my AC compressor and my smog pump, I know I'll have to string measure a new belt,But do I have to relocate my power steering pump to the AC position?

I bought underdrive pulleys and brackets for the AC and smog pump but I read in one post that the belt will hit itself?

What exactly is involved in this procedure, can't I just take off the Smog pump and it's hoses as well as the ac compressor and hoses and mount the brackets and pulleys and run my new belt??

Also will I still need the AC bracket with my delete pulley?

I know this has been beat into the ground but I just need some clarification before I go cutting hoses and lines.

Thanks

well this is what i did i bypass the smog pump and theres a kit from summit racing that and yes you will relocate your power strering pump but with this kit its easy it takes about 1 hour to set it up as for the belt good luck i had abit of hard time finding mine

Dont worry about a smog delete pulley, rip out the pump and there you go. Go to summit, order the ford racing a'c delete kit, relocates your power steering up into the a/c location. If you dont get the kit the belt will come dangerously close to hitting itself. Just spend the 50 bucks buy the ford kit and call it a day. I have u/d pulley's on my water pump and crank,and i had to run a 73.50' belt. I would advise you to not use the alternator u/d pulley. May have problems with idle issues, alt not keeping enough juice to the battery, or other slight issues.

if your using the motorsport kit you will have to move the steering pump

it makes the car like a ac delete car

ud pulleys will just make about 1" diff in belt size

if it was 96" long it would be like this.....KO60960

ko= nothing
60= 6 ribs
960 = 96.0 inches (96 1/2 would be 965)

hope that helps

I already have the underdrive pulleys from icemangt from the forum

I'm in the middle of the water pump debacle so I figured i'd take care of this while I'm in there and I'm not sure what setup I'm going to run, I want the easiest one

So maybe no smog pulley but What about the AC pulley? can I just get a shorter belt?

735k6 thats the belt i used for my compressor n smog delete. super easy to do, BUT the belt DID hit itself. the tensioner made it hit, but i drilled a new hole for the tensioner pin and its all good now, it is a tad bid loose tho, but its cause i drilled the hole to high. Myself personaly will go with a 72 when i get a new belt

Hmm, I think I might as well go the ford racing route and move the power steering pump, looks different too

that ford ac delete kit........... (black bracket, aluminum bracket, and couple of long bolts)........

do you have to disconnect your power steering pump and/or get longer hoses??... I'd like to see a pic of it installed..
