Default RE: Temp Problem Please Help!

An aluminum radiator would not fix an over-bore problem. If anything the guy who bored it hit a water jacket...

ORIGINAL: 87greyghost

how long have you had it. When i got my 87 it was doing something similar whenever id get on it the temp would creep up on me till it got really close to the red line. I recently rebuilt the top end in it and found out it was bored .040 over. I flushed the system and put a stock radiator back in it. A buddy of mine told me that it being boredwas the problem so i think im going to have to get an all aluminum radiator.

i think i would have noticed if they had hit a waterjacket its either the radiator or me not running a t-stat and the water not having time to cool of in the radiator.

stock temp gauge in my '93 would peg red if the key was on but engine off, with the headlights on.

that gauge never read over about 160/170 and the autometer was showing about 210!
