Default Gearbox woes

I was driving my car today and all was well.

I came to a stop at a traffic light and put the car in nuetral, let off the clutch. When I the light turn green, I went to put the car in 1st ... Couldn't do it. It wouldn't take no gear. I then, let off the clutch, sank it again and rammed it into first. Getting the car into gears after that was hard. I took the car home, parked it, went to work in my dd. This evening I got home from work and took the car for a ride. It's shifting normal again. What do you think the problem is/was?

I guess that was a sign to get a new Gearbox.

make sure the cable is not binding and ramming it in is a good way to break the shift forks

My trans starting doing that with 3-4. It was intermittent until i powershifted one day and it stuck in 4th. Opened it up and turns out it was a broken detent key. The spring loaded key rocks back and forth against the 3-4 slider. Yours could be wearing on the 1-2.

Were you grinding in any gear? Was it difficult to replace that part?

I was reading this thread again and I just realized what you said. The Clutch needs adjusting??? Clutches can be adjusted? Or did you mean the Clutch Cable? I have a King Cobra.

I'm noticing now, that when I first start driving the car shifting into gears is fine, but as the engine get to normal running temps it becomes more difficult to shift into gears. Does this sound familiar?

I actually just find this link that talks about adjusting the clutch. I think I'll do it this weekend.
