Mass air sensor?

Mass air sensor?
I have an 88 gt that I converted to mass air. I removed the egr system and it shares some vacume lines with the map sensor. I would like to remove the map sensor in effort to clean up the engine caompartment. I've heard that if you have a mass air flow sensor the map sensor is unessasary. Does anyone know if this is true?

RE: Mass air sensor?
Well my map sensor shared a vacume line with my egr. One line coming from the egr sensor on the strut tower and one coming from the map sensor to a tee then from there a single line runs to the back of the manifold.
So I just need to know if it is nessasary to have the map sensor with a mass air equiped vehicle.

Yes,
1. ITS NOT A MAP SENSOR.
2. YOU HAVE THE WRONG ONE ON THERE.
3. AUTOZONE/EBAY CODE NAME - Barometric Pressure Sensor
4. Leave the nipple OPEN ON THE SENSOR(VENT).
5. These things go bad rarely, but ive found that spiders like to make this sensor home.[:'(]
The barometric pressure sensor is used to compensate for altitude variations. From this signal, the ECA modifies the air/fuel ratio, spark timing, idle speed and EGR flow. The barometric sensor is a design that produces a frequency based on atmospheric pressure (altitude). The sensor is mounted on the right fender apron.

RE: Mass air sensor?
You are right after a little further research I found thet the sensor I removed is the actually the smog pump & thermactor air selenoid. I read up on their function and they sem to be related to the air/smog pump pumping exhaust into the throttle body and air into the exhaust in effort to create less emissions. So needless to say they are now gone. Thanks for your help.
