T-5 Fluid change

RE: T-5 Fluid change
There is two plugs on the t-5 trans. It is located on the passenger side of the car and takes a 3/4" ratchet. No sockets are needed. Undo the top plug first and then undo the bottom plug. This allows the trans to empty quicker. Let it drain all out. I bought a hand pump from Canadian tire for $15 and it was awesome. Suck up the fluid and put it in the top hole(make sure the bottom hole is plugged with the plug). Try to make the car as level as possible and fill the trans up until the fluid is on the threads of the top hole. Good luck
This is where the plugs are located....look near the front of the input shaft. You can see the two bolts. Top one is the fill and the bottom one is the drain!

If you don't have a pump. Just run a length of hose from your funnel then feed it down the engine compartment.
Some very strong opinions on types of fluids.
I was shocked to see 80w90 gear oil in my T5. I was looking forward to enjoying the difference GM Synchromesh. Sorry to say I was dissapointed in not noticing ANY difference.
I've since switched to Mobil One synthetic ATF. Again, I feel good about what is in there but feel no obvious diffence.

I would have to say its easier to just take the shifter off and pour it in from top till it pours out of the top fill plug. saves a mess and you dont have to dick around with funnels and hoses.

I did it with the pump. I picked up this little pump at walmart for $6. It has an inlet hose and an outlet hose. I just climbed under the car, took both plugs out, drained the trans, put the lower plug in, and then got the new fluid ready. I stuck the inlet hose in the bottle of trans fluid, pumped it a couple times till it was comin out, stuck the outlet hose in the trans, and pumped. lol it started leakin out about mid way in the third bottle. So I plugged it, cleaned it all up, and was done. Easy! lol
