Default Rack & Pinion question.

Ok So It is time to replace the rack and pinion rack on my 87 5.0. My ? is autozone has different choices for them they have them with 2.25, 2.5, and 3 lock to lock, so If I get the one with a 2.25 lock to lock will it make it so it take less turn on the steering wheel to make more full turns of the wheel. Ot will it make it so It will only turn so far? If it will limit how far I can turn which one do I need?

Default RE: Rack & Pinion question.

you will still have the same turning radius, it just means that you will get to the lock faster. IMHO the close ratio is better if you live in a city area where you do alot of slow speed turning. However, when you get up on a highway, or log country road, its better to have the 3 turn style instead. It makes your lane transitions smoother and less violent, It basically increases the resolution of the turn.
