1991 5.0 problem
i have a 1991 5.0 auto. about a month after getting the car i started to have a problem with it. it feels like the car has no power. once the car hits 2k-2.5k rpms the y drop down to about 1k and after that even with the gas all the way down the rpms increase very slowly.someone told me it was because my converters were clogged so i installed an h-pipe but im still having the problem. the car also has a rough idle at times. anyone have any ideas? thanks

possibly fuel is the issue, buy you a cheap fuel pressure gauge and mount it on the service port on ur fuel rail, you can get it for about $20 at any parts store check ur fuel pressure, should be around 28-35psi

Hook up a vacuum gauge to a manifold port, watch engine vacuum as the engine load is increased..... if the vacuum starts high (normal) and drops slowly close to 0" Hg. ..... yep, the exhaust is clogged.

RE: 1991 5.0 problem
i changed the fuel filter and added a fuel injector cleaner. it didn't completely fix the problem but now the car revs higher to about 3-3.5k. it still has the hesitation problem after the rpms drop but it isnt as bad. so im wondering if getting the injector's cleaned at the mechanics would help

most likely any shop that tells your there gonna "clean your fuel injectors" is just using a iv drip of chemical that will go in a vacuum line, AKA bull**** in a bottle only true way to clean your ject's is to pull them all and have them sonic cleaned, but it cost about the same to just buy some new ones and drop them in there, but chances are its more in your exhaust or fuel pressure

i got in the car this morning and it drove fine for most of the day but there were a couple times when it did have problems. the only thing is that the car has a lot of backpressure and there is a little hesitation. my gas pedal got stuck down but i dont know if this would be related to the other problems

Maybe you shouldn't be driving it until you fix the whole "gas pedal sticking" thing, that could be dangerous. I think it was just today somone was talking about there car having poor performance and he said he cleaned the MAF and he noticed a difference. That may be the cheapest route. Don't just use parts cleaner either, there is a special can of something thats recomended.
