for the price of a trick flow kit you could piece together a better set up that'll yield more power
any suggestions on combo's then?
I would personally just stick with your original plan. It may seem cheaper to go the other route and piece things together but when you start to add it all up, all the little things can change that. The Trickflow kit comes with just about everything you would possibly need to do the swap and that is a piece of mind in itself.

The only thing I can recommend is after the swap is said and done, take the car and get it professionally tuned! The Trickflow kit isn't given the credit it deserves because of people just slapping it on and taking it to the dyno. There's a guy that lives local to me that runs around in a 94GT similar to mine. He has the Trickflow HCI out of the box, longtubes, exhaust, 75mm tb, 76mm MAF, and pullies. He dyno'd 309rwhp and 327rwtq. It don't get much better then that with a HCI swap on a 302.

good info guys, appreciate it. Other than a harmonic dampner puller and a fuel line removal tool, are there any other special tools i will need? i've got a pretty extensive set of tools but not really any specialized stuff.

Be careful not go to excesive with the cam lift... you don't want to damage your new Heads or Valves with piston and valve clearance issues.
Peak lift has nothing to do with piston to valve clearance.

To the original poster, many guys have gotten 300 RWHP from a Trickflow Kit. Just ask them to hold the valve covers, and you have nice deal per dollars spent.

will the stock valve covers work with the TF head? clearance? or will there need to be some modifications made on the baffles?

You may have to trim/remove the oil baffle on the passenger side.

Don't the Trick flow kits come with valve covers?
