Default complete 97' explorer rearend ?

Would it be possible to fit a 97' exploder 8.8 rearend with 3.73s with disc brakes under my 88' GT. If it is, how bad is it to install?
How bad would it be to put my stock 4 lug axels in the explorer rearend? Is it just pull and push?

I don't know if the explorer has the same track width as a mustang. Also your stock 8.8 has clips so you going to have to open the diff cover up and you will have to get 4 lug rotors for the axle. call Drive Train Specailites in Warren Michigan they will be able to help you out

That and I don't know if the shocks and lower control arms mount in the same spot. You could use the carrier out of it though if you have an 8.8 housing.

Im going to say no. Reason is the explorer had a leaf spring suspension in the rear. It would be possible but it would be way too much work.

really you coulddo some cutting and fabbing to make it fit. the carrier is 31 spline so atleast take that and put it in yours.

The explorer uses an offset pinion, so it will not fit. I actually narrowed one to fit in a 65 dart here is a link to the project. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/...ead.php?t=9224

doesnt match up at all and is a lot wider than the mustang axel. you can take the carrier out and use that if you want

i dunno it all depends on if the bolt pattern is the same for the backing plates and all. you also have to go to a 5 lug pattern
