here....read this

https://mustangforums.com/forum/5-0l-1979-1995-mustang/293134-how-to-properly-stab-your-distributor.html

if you have trouble from there let us know. that should get you in the right area.

and yes you point the light at your H balancer after you get everything running.

you need to have the rotor point directly to the #1 plug wire on the cap. if not you're "one tooth off" maybe more

once you believe you are at TDC make sure your balancer is pointed at 0*

strap everything down, unplug your spout and fire it up

thats when you time it.

make sure your rotor is pointed at the #1 plug on the cap. clamp the cap down, bolt down the dizzy stil pointed at the #1 plug(or hold in place if a friend cranks it for you)

then yes proceed to unplug spount and fire it up. time it and you should be GTG.

does it crank with no fire? does it try to fire? all the plugs are going to the right cylinders correct and you have the coil hooked up?

it acts like it has no fire but pulled plugs it does..when it turns over its like real fast and doesnt even try...every once in a while if i give it some gas when i let off of it, it sounds like it hits like once maybe twice but never starts...plugs goin right and coil hooked up...
