If you want a nasty idle with that big thumping sound look into a Comp Cams 291 Thumper cam. It sounds nasty and still runs pretty strong. Still not near as good as well selected cam for maximum performance. I've had customers that didn't care about ET but just wanted it to sound nasty. Works pretty good with limited heads.

OK on the the thumper cam, what cam would you recommend for maximum performance. I will have the gt-40 heads ported and the gt-40 intake will be gasket matched also.

Comp XE266HR and go with 3:73 gears. It will optimize all the low end torque the engine will make

Would the f303 be a good cam it is similar to the comp because the comp is around $300 and the f303 is around $179.Whats the max lift with stock pistons?
