exactly if your going to do the swap with a fox you need to do the 3g swap. When i had my sn95 i didnt have a problem with it. Then again they have the better alt and the electric to help things

You can get a new set of March billet steel powdercoated pullies from Summit for 52 dollars. I went with them for several reasons. They are well made and cheap and not that much heavier than the aluminum ones. I like a suttle look under the hood that takes on an all business no bling look (the only reason it got polished Valve covers is the wife bought them for me) they contribute to better power at the wheels and I just had to have a set of pullies.

ah.. if this is your true short-term goal then def. you should go and get some steeper gears -3.27 = good gas miliage (some say these gears net best mixed MPG of all choices & my chp car had these so they perform well)
-For you I should say 3.55 or 3.73 would be a good match

If you do your ud pulleys you should get a 3g alternator at the same time. For you to get the fun you want as soon as possible, call a driveline shop, find one that deals with fords so they have some used gears on hand, drop off the car have them do it for you, and voila! Instant seat of the pants fun realized
