89 GT recent tune up(plugs,cap,rotor wires) car just doesnt run right anymore(before tune up you could really hear the cam,now just sounds horrible,starts right up but idles real rough and backfires) tried adjusting timing still aint right. also ever hear of different plugs for 89? the plugs the book calls for did'nt fit. the plugs I put in are for a cobra i was told.Not sure if heads are stock.The firing order the book has doesnt work, we played with the firing order just to get it to start. also car has intake from explorer(is this any better?) trying to get car running from previous owner. any suggestions greatly appreciated.

sounds like the firing order may be off, locate number one on cap and go counterclockwise 13726548

Like mjr46 said, make sure you follow the correct firing order, not the firing order for an early model 302?
