I'm having a difficult time getting the stock shifter out so that I can install my mgw one! I removed the boots and all the bolts, and got to the section where the 4 bolts that bolt down the shifter to the trans took those out. Problem is, where the rtv sealant seals the shifter to the trans I can't pop it out or pull it or w/e. Is there a trick to removing the base of the shifter so that I won't break my trans???
get a soft hammer or a piece of wood and a regular hammer and tap it. or just really yank on it. it will come loose eventually. there really isnt any trick
Yay! I got off the old one, scrubbed off the silicone sealant and then installed the new one! Setting the stops is pretty interesting nothing much to it, but it's different! Such a nice feel now omg, and thats just me taking it around the block!!!
