You didnt, perhaps, remove the dist hold down entirely?

I agree. Be certain you have the dizzy correctly installed. https://mustangforums.com/forum/5-0-...stributor.html

Also, if your timing light pickup has an arrow on it somewhere, be sure to have it pointing toward spark plug and not the rotor.
