The motors can take alot of abuse so you really don't have to worry a whole lot as long as it is maintained, oil changes and such. BUT the transmissions are another story. Some people break them alot and some can make them last for a while and run good times, ask pro5.0 or MJR. But they are rated around 300lbs of torque, varying slightly in some years and a stock 5.0 puts out very close to that number.
