Default hesitation and some backfiring in 1st

i have a stock 89 lx, full stock exhaust.ive noticed that when i punch it, or give it slighty harder than normal throttle, it bogs a lil bit then backfires a lil bit?! what would make it do that? timing or sumtn? i took out the maf screen and put a k&n filter, but thats it

should really pull codes. but you can start by cleaning the MAF sensor with the proper MAF cleaner. do you have an aftermarket FPR/guage?

did it just start out of the blue or did you change something to cause this issue?

whats a fpr/gauge? to be honest, the car feels sluggish compared to my other car, those are the mods in my signature.this is my 1st 5 spd.a buddy told me that 5spds sumtimes pop aftr gears, but this is hesitation backfire. also, i never realy "gun it" that much cuzi baby it alot, so i dont thnk i ever noticed it.i bought it a mnth ago, n startd driving it as a daily driver 2 weeks ago.so im tryn to get used to the car still.my 1st 5 spd also

i thot you pull codes when you get some type of light on in the dash? you can "pull codes" at any time?

What grade of fuel are you running? I had the same issue a few months ago. I put a bottle of Lucas injector cleaner in the tank and started putting premium fuel in the tank. No issues since.

FPR = fuel pressure regulator and/or fuel pressure gauge.
do you have either?

you dont have to have a CEL (check engine light) in order for their to be codes. I would have them ran anyways just to be sure.

thanks for the abreviations. i would hav no idea what ur taln bout if u didnt do that. lol
i havnt begin to get all **** on it yet. im drivn the 89 cuz my balancer pulley broke on my 92.but i deff will try the lucas thing for sure. i always do that kinda stuff, but just been busy with drama
