Default TICK NOISE

i had installed my hedman long tubes about a week ago and they came with header gasket is that gasket any good cause when i first installed them i didnt hear no ticking or leaks and all of a sudden now i have a ticking noise on the driver side header and im thinking its the gasket thats leaking, unless i have something bad in head is there a diffrence in the tick sounds that come from head and a leak on header

Have you retightened the bolts? You're supposed to heat soak the headers, let it cool tighten them down, and do so again a few days later. And then just periodically unless you get some sort of fasteners.


What kind of gasket was it?

i didnt re tight them im gonna give that a try let see if tick noise goes away the header gasket is the one that comes with the hedman headers its like a white cardboard type

chances are your header gasket is toast now... if you didnt follow the proper preceedure, you can pretty much bank on needing new gaskets

What Adder said. Odds are without the compression it's blown out. I'd replace it just to be safe.

I'd suggest you pick up either a Percy 4 piece metal gasket 10-20 bucks from autozone.

Or there's another type, I can't remember the name but after you tighten it down it springs back and helps make it so the bolts don't back out. I'll get back to you tomorrow with the name. It's also metal, but a bit more expensive.

well i went to tighthen the bolts and tick noise kinda quite down but i took it for a drive and i did a short pulll at wot and heard the tick noise again i guess that gasket is bad already

once you get a hole you need to seal it before it burns out.
