tranny?

Those are both good choices.. just buy the kit it comes with everything you need.
In his defense, i beat the **** out of my old mustang on the street everyday. Busted two t5s, never did have a problem in the rearend (not to say nitrous bob is wrong, just in my experience).... those stock t5s really cant handle hard street use on a constant basis. a hard shift in third did the first one in. The tailshaft housing on my second one cracked somehow that one was weird.
I found a good deal on a used viper spec t56... that shouldnt be breaking for a while

in the end youll need the tranny, a shifter, a clutch, bellhousing, shorter driveshaft and crossmember. I think the tkos are a little more "bolt up".

Whoever said that is WRONG. The TKOs are very streetable. But, if you dont have that kind of money... Send your T-5 to astro performance and theyll do a good once over on it. Plus you know you have everything you need to bolt it back up in place.

The TKO will swap in pretty easy. you should not need to modify the crossover.
you will need a new pressure plate, they are 26 spline (stock is 10)
you will need a drive shaft spacer
you will need a new drive shaft yoke, 31 spline i think it is.
a stock tko is synchronized just like a t5, no problem there.
a race modified tko (faceplating) removes the synchros and it takes some getting use to on the street. its like driving a dump truck to down shift.
Bellhousing runout needs to be checked to get the best shifting possible.
