3.55's are in,What tire should I run?
Hey Guys,
Im taking my 90 LX back to a stock looking appearance.Im going from 18's back to 16"pony wheels.I also went to a 3.55 rear gear so my speedo is going to be going nuts.It seems a 45 series sidewall is as short as they come. What kind of tire sizes do you guys with 16 inch wheels run?If you give me some advice on tire sizes, can you also tell me what speedo gear you are running? Thanks Junior

i wanna say my 16's stock were a 255/50/16 ??? but maybe that was my et streets
a 21t driven is what is needed for 3.27 and will get you as close as you can get w/ ford parts(i'm assuming you have a '96 and a t5 ??) if it's a newer t5 or aod and 8t drive gear
a 23t will chew up since it's not a ford part

I'm running a white 23t speedo gear, works mint but might be different for a fox, according to steeda a '90 T5 would use that gear.

Sorry guys,
I assumed you guys knew I had a 1990 fox body with a tremec 5 speed. It made an *** out of me(ha ha).Anyway,I want as much rubber as I can get out back for traction, but I dont like the fronts being a whole lot shorter-It makes it look like a car from the 70's jacked up or something.I think I have decided to run 245/50/16's on back and 225/55/16's on the front. The smaller tire up front should help with rubbing issues.I can handle a full turn lock, but not something constant that might damage the tire.Plus the sidewalls of the tires should be pretty close to the same height. So,a 245 mounted on a 16 inch wheel with the tremec 3550 should take what speedo gear? Thanks for the response guys,Junior

the tremec 3550 should already have a 7 tooth drive gear in it. If it does, you would want a Black 20T driven gear on the speedo.
Also, 245/50/16 should fit your car all the way around, so long as it isnt slammed.
this will also give you the ability to rotate your tires if you need to
