So I just picked up a 92 GT this past summer. Lately, I can hear this kind of whistling or light squealing sound coming from the rear of the car. Now when I lightly put my foot on the clutch and apply a small amount of pressure the sound lightens up and stops. Does this mean that I have a clutch problem? Or what?

throwout bearing most likely.
minimal chance that the fork pedestal is worn and the fork is vibrating.

so a new throwout bearing would possibly do the trick? how much do those run? how much labor is involved? i am not mechanically inclined, but my buddy and his dad are a great resource for teaching me........something we could do? he has a mechanical engineering degree and his dad has been a mechanic for GM for over 20 years. lol he likes to tell me that my Ford has been "blessed" with GM parts sometimes. I tell him "thats all GM is good for........parts"

gotta pull the trans to replace.

99% of clutch kits come with a new bearing, if you feel like putting a new clutch in too.
also a good time to replace the cable & pedal quadrant, too.
