Default >broken alternator bolt...ouch<

the lower alternator bolt holding it into my head broken clean off... more than half the thread is still stuck in the head. ive been thinkin of options and came up with two possibilities---

1. suck it up and drill it out.

or

2. see if there was a way to remount the alternator somewhere else on the motor. in the second picture is where i thought i saw an opportunity

what would yall do. this is my daily driver too. its got a 331 stroker with gt 40 heads

I'd say drill it out. But you could put it where your power steering is and then move your power steering down to where it is on A/C cars.

Center punch first then use new De Walt cobalt drill bit. Pb Blaster- spray to keep bit cool while drilling. Try an easy out. Don't extract, keep on drilling then rethread. This all seems painful but will soon pass. Put anti-seize on replacement bolt.

and make sure you get enough threads holding it in.one of the bolts that broke off in mine only had 6 threads in the head.and yes use anti-seize.it is your friend.

you could try building it out a bit with a welder and then welding a nut to it. its worked for me many times when I have a problem with a bolt. then again you may not have a welder

did this not too long ago.

go buy a drill bit and easy out. the bolt can only thread 3/4" into the head. drill a small hole in the bolt then use the easy out. you need to apply pressure to the easy out to force it in the hole. and dont put it on the drill. you gotta do it manually. vice grips or something.

lol, nope, dont change my opinon.

It's choking a ton of power out of that motor. You could gain 50hp from swaping heads/cam
