i have a 1990 5.0 with the 5speed, latley its been hard to get the shifter into gear, just the last half an inch is hard. and i have to force it in there to get it. i was wondering if anyone knew what it could be, and whats the best tranny fluid for this prob. and how much does it take to fill a empty tranny up. thanks for the help.

Odds are your clutch is going. A dragging or a partially un-released clutch will make it hard to get into gear. Are you still on your stock clutch? Do you push your clutch hard?

adjust your clutch cable... if you have the stock setup just pull up on the pedal to remove slack

i do have the stock setup, u want me to just pull up on the pedal.

With the car off, put the clutch to the floor and release it. Reach down and grab the pedal and pull it firmly straight up. You should feel it if you have any slack. You may have to do it twice.

Then you may have to replace the clutch like the others said. Besides, it gives you a reason to put that Kevlar clutch in!!!!
