Price depends on your area, really, it varies. Compare it to relatively similar cars in your area.

The 4cyl conversions make wary, there is often a lot of things that need to be done for this, but are overlooked. The insurance thing is true, but if you ever have an accident, they will void your claim for misrepresenting the vehicle. The send adjusters out to examine vehicles after collisions, and they will most likely notice the engine is not a 4cyl.

i had a 4 banger conversion and got into a T-bone accident that wasnt my fault and there was no problems with the insurance company so thats not true and if they did have a problem you could say you just changed it and they cant say anything to you

Insurance premiums are based on actuarial computations (read: risk), that's why a 4cyl is cheaper to insure than an 8cyl. If you change the engine and don't tell them about it, you are voiding your insurance policy because you have misrepresented yourself. If you did this and didn't get caught, just consider yourself lucky, but don't think you aren't running the risk by doing so.

Trus me on this, I know what I'm talking about. You really think insurance companies won't care if you submit fraudulent info about your vehicle?

The insurance company can really mess with you. They can base everything off of what the car is insured as, which would be an 89 4-cylinder. Which means the value of the car is much less making it easier to total and they also won't have to give you as much for the car. I've worked in a body shop for 13 years and I have seen insurance companies screw alot of people. The only way that you could protect yourself is to have the car appraised and insured for it's appraised value. This will keep you from having cheep insurance rates, but it will cover your butt.
Another side note for everyone... If your car gets stolen or broken into. Any items which are stolen from your car get covered by your home owners policy. This means you have to pay your auto deductable for the repairs to teh car, and your home owners deductable for the stolen items (this includes stereo systems unless they are noted on your auto policy).. Check with your agent, you may be supprised!
