GT40P

I am about to install a junkyard motor with those heads. I must say, I am not impressed. Anyways, the bbk shortys will work with 90 degree plug wires but, it is close. It will be hard on the wire without boot protectors.

By real 40s do you mean the GT40 and not the GT40p? I thought the GT40p out performed the regular gt40?

BBK shorties will work. I have them on my 95. It's a little tight getting a couple plugs in and out but def work with minimal effort. As far as power goes. If you want serious get up and go get some aluminum heads. (TFS AFR ect.) If money is too tight they beat stock easily. I'm making just under 300 to the wheels with mine. If I had the money to throw at it I would get a set of Trick Flows and 1.7 roller rockers and I would probably gain 60 to the wheels or more.

p's have smaller valves so how they can outflow is beyond me. and i could care less about "flow" really, velocity is way more important
i have yet to see a car run well with p heads. on the other hand i have watched countless cars dip into the 11's with gt40's and a single power adder on the stock short block
but thats my opinion...... and i have owned 5 5.0's since 1990 so im not new

I'm now on a budget build and am not really comfortable dishing out atleast 1000 for heads. Any HP estimates on GT40s? I think even 30hp for ~300 bucks is considered worth it, is it not? I think a pair of GT40s will compliment my engine well in my desired goal of a cruiser with a little bit more of a punch. I'm not even taking the car to the track, but am use to it's power and only want a little bit more. It falls on it's face after ~5500. Will heads help this problem, or is my cam to blame?
